I am a freelance riding instructor based in Suffolk, providing coaching for both private clients with their own horses and for BHS and ABRS approved riding stables.
I am BHS qualified and have undertaken very traditional riding training. My coaching technique offers a more rounded approach, whereby I am able to help you explore the relationship with your horse and assist with forging a stronger connection. I feel this is such an integral part of riding, you are a team and there must be a level of respect and understanding in order to achieve results, whether this be in high level competition or simply enjoying your schooling and hacking at home.
I also place great emphasis on balance and awareness of your own body, and how this affects the horses way of going.
"A horse will always be a horse, but a human being will not always be a rider"
I teach all ages and abilities in both flatwork and jumping and have a full DBS disclosure. I have a young daughter myself and find children are often very receptive to this style of coaching, as it is gentle, non judgemental, does not involve shouting and kicking and allows the rider to explore their own abilities and in turn build confidence.
In addition to riding lessons on your own horse, I am available for competition day coaching, all Pony Club activities, clinics, and riding camps. I am happy to travel in and around Suffolk.
My first session is always 1 hour 30 mins and involves a full consultation, discussion and groudwork where appropriate. Follow up sessions are one hour.

"Maddie taught me and my horse Trio for nearly three years - she helped me totally transform my relationship with him and my riding improved so much. I had a cross country accident when I was in my twenties and was terrified of jumping, but within a few months I had so much more trust for Trio and now we're going to Riding Club events at least once a month. Thank you for all your help and support - we'll miss you so much,
please don't move!!!"

"My daughter Chloe had only ever had riding school lessons on quiet (kick along!) ponies and we bought her Minty a little Welsh Sec A, in 2014. He is such a sweet pony but I was at my wits end as he was amazing with her older sister but whizzed off as soon as I let Chloe off the lead rein. Maddie worked with us to build Chloes confidence with him and hes calmed down so much, I think because they understand each other a bit better now! He knows he can't take advantage! Its been a brilliant experience and I'm actually training in Horse Healing myself now. Thank you Maddie!"
